Imagine posting a casual picture of yourself during your lunch break only for your uniformed look to go fully viral online. That’s what happened to a Home Depot employee, who posted a picture in her apron on June 9. Over the weekend, the post blew up — pushing “Home Depot” into Twitter’s trending category for several days in a row.
Talk about free advertising! The post said that the employee, whose name is Ariana, was working at “the one job [where] I get reminded I’m too pretty to work at,” sparking some debate online as it grew it popularity.

Ariana says in the following tweets that she is a paint mixer at Home Depot, that the store is “just my college job” and that it “has good benefits.” Still, some commenters felt, like her presumed customers, that she was “too pretty” to work at Home Depot, which she addressed.
“I don’t think I am too pretty to work anywhere. I work at Home Depot because it’s a decent job that pays good while I’m in school. Please stop taking social media to heart.”
Last thing I’m going to say is, I don’t think I am too pretty to work anywhere. I work at Home Depot because it’s a decent job that pays good while i’m in school. Please stop taking social media to heart. God bless. 🤍

In response, several other women have posted pictures of themselves sporting Home Depot aprons and claiming to work for the company.

Unofficially, one of Home Depot’s corporate employees posted her own selfie in recognition. While debates about women being “too pretty” to work at any job continue, the ladies of Home Depot are using social media to show that they do, in fact, pay bills like the rest of us.
